Kurambon Taru Koshu Wine

Kurambon

Dazzling clarity with a whisper of green; a gentle viscosity pouring into a glass. Lots of Japanese citrus notes: yuzu, karin, kabosu, as well as grapefruit. A baby kick of acidity in the initial attack, but accompanied by fruity sweetness that keeps it from becoming edgy. There is a gauzy oakiness that gentle floats down at the end. A tricky three-person see-saw balance of fruitiness, lively acidity, and slight bitterness, pulled off exquisitely with assured skillfulness.

ABOUT THIS BOTTLE

Kurambon Taru Koshu Wine

Part of the Kurambon series. Made with Koshu grapes, slowly fermented in steel barrels at a low temperature, then blended with barrel-fermented wine. Kurambon uses french oak barrels, as other oaks overpower the delicate Koshu flavor. The balance between oakiness and fruitiness, and keeping the characteristics of the Koshu grapes were forefront in mind in its creation.

about the winery

kurambon winery

Kurambon was founded in 1913. It prides itself in their close relationships with local grape farms. They put emphasis on wines made with Koshu grapes, a grape varietal that goes back a 1000 years. Instead of wines mechanically made, their aim is to create more natural wines where the grapes' transformation to wine is gently aided by wine makers.
