ABOUT THIS BOTTLE
Otokoyama Junmai Daiginjo Sake
Since becoming the first sake ever to win the Monde Selection gold prize in 1977, this sake has defined the Otokoyama brand by continuing to win awards and prizes internationally for 40 years. Made by polishing down Yamada Nishiki rice from Hyogo to 38% and almost every step processed by hand, it would be fair to call this the Rolls Royce of daiginjo. The delicate flavors of pomegranate and sweet potato easily slips in, but once on the tongue, it spreads with complexity and leaves you with a harmonious long finish.

about this brewery
OTOKOYAMA BREWERY
Otokoyama's history goes back to the Edo period (1603-1867) where it was so prized that it was appointed as the official sake purveyor for the Edo-era shogunate and aristocrats. Synonymous with good sake, it was so well-known that it would get mentions (perhaps it was Edo period product placement) in pop culture of the times, from Kabuki theater shows to Ukiyo-e paintings (Japanese woodblock print). This long-acclaimed sake is brewed with underground water from the mountains of Hokkaido. Otokoyama Brewery has been awarded gold medals by international liquor competitions for 44 consecutive years.
