about this brewery
Tomono Shuzo
Tomono Shuzo was founded in 1901 in Saku, Nagano, a region known for its cool mountain climate, clean air, and pure underground water flowing from the Yatsugatake mountain system. The brewery works with local Nagano sake rice such as Hitogokochi and Miyama Nishiki, creating sake that reflects the quiet elegance and freshness of Shinshu.
Best known for its Sawa no Hana and Beau Michelle brands, Tomono Shuzo combines traditional sake craftsmanship with a modern, playful sensibility. Sawa no Hana represents the brewery’s refined and delicate style, while Beau Michelle expresses a lighter, more approachable side of sake, crafted to be joyful, refreshing, and easy to enjoy.
With over a century of history, Tomono Shuzo continues to pursue sake that is clean, graceful, and deeply tied to its local terroir. Beau Michelle captures that spirit in a charming way, offering a sake that feels both rooted in tradition and refreshingly contemporary.
